You must use a DVI-I to VGA cable, and your monitor must support an analog VGA signal through the DVI port. So you would need to use this adapter and a DVI-I cable with it.

    • The situation you are describing requires an active converter. This adapter can run the analog signal from a DVI-I port to a VGA monitor, but if you want to go from a VGA port to a DVI monitor you will need an analog to digital converter like the SW-6924
