What's New with HDMI 1.3
Developers of HDMI, the most popular high definition connector in home theater, have ramped up the specifications and come out with HDMI 1.3.
It supports outputs of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio for external decoding by AV receivers. Those are audio codec formats used on HD DVD and Blu-ray discs. It also supports audio and video sync capability.
HDMI 1.3 has increased the single link video signal bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbit/s) and increased the amount of colors by optionally supporting 30-bit, 36-bit, and 48-bit.
