  • How do I hook this up to a Dell 2400 Dimension Desktop?
    • In order to install a PCI card you will need to open your case. Note that you need to be very careful when opening your case - make sure that you touch the chassis after opening it and before touching any components - you can accidentally fry your motherboard that way. To be extremely careful you can even wear a ESD (electro-static discharge) bracelet. With a Dell you should be able to open the case by popping off the front piece and then the side should slide off. You may or may not have a piece that needs to be unscrewed on the side of the case. Once the case is open you should be able to identify the PCI slots pretty easily by matching them up to the card. You probably have a holder bracket that you will need to remove in order to install the card (this is to keep the case fully enclosed even when you don't have enough PCI cards to fill it up). Make sure that the card is well-seated - I usually boot up my computer before reassembling my case to make sure that it's working, but be careful and don't have your system on for too long with the case open like this.

  • Will the SW-1401 work with a 2002 sony vaio running Windows XP home edtion, service pack 2?
    • This card will work with any desktop computer that has an available standard PCI slot and is running one of the supported operating systems. XP is a supported operating system and will work fine with this card. Please refer to the documentation for your computer to find out if you have a standard PCI slot available in that computer.

  • Is there an external way to add a firewire port?
    • Unfortunately if your computer does not have firewire ports there isn't any external way to add them. If your computer is a desktop they must be added with a PCI card like this one. If your computer is a laptop you would want to use a PCMCIA firewire card.

  • There is a small white 4-pin power connector on this card. What is is for and how do you attach it? I have a Dell dimension 8400. The only auxilary power supply I see is a larger 4-pin connector. I would like to use the auxilary power attachment if that is what the connector is for. How can I do that on my computer?
