In a traditional optical link, a fiber pair consists of two unidirectional fibers: one fiber is used to transmit and another fiber is used to receive. Media converters without bidirectional feature must use two fibers in order to transmit and receive at the same time.
Our bidirectional media converter 100B1 (must used with 100B2) can transmit and receive in one single fiber. This technology multiplexes two optical wavelengths of 1310nm and 1550nm into a single fiber. Bidirectional feature will double your fiber utilization.
