Dynapower's IP serial server allows you to control your serial devices from over the internet or LAN. It is perfect for devices like weight scales, scanners, time card readers, and other important devices. It's a great solution to have multiple users connect to a single device over the network (up to eight per port).
Direct IP Mode
In this mode, you can directly connect your device to your computer. Using ethernet cable, you can extend your device using standard Cat5e cable.
Virtual COM Mode
Virtual mode actually allows you communicate with your device via the LAN or IP. This is helpful when your device is in a remote location, but you still wish to interface with it. Virtual COM translates the data into an IP packet and transfers it to your server to be read into a serial signal. The Virtual COM software does the translating on the computer side.
Paired Mode
Paired mode is the easiest way to communicate with your device over the IP. It requires two serial IP servers. Each server must be programmed to the same IP address. They then communicate with each other. On the computer side, you simply connect a Null Modem cable to your server as you would normally to your device. There is no software to be installed on the host computer making it easy to manage.
Heart Beat
Heart beat is a fantastic feature that allows the device to automatically try to reconnect after a power or connection failure. This is a great advantage over manually restarting the connection. A power failure can occur during a power surge or even an ethernet loss. Heart beat retries the connection every five seconds until a connection is re-established.
