  • I will buy two 22 inch monitors. Each monitor will run at 1680 x 1050. Can I do it with this splitter? I want two different screens (no mirroring)
    • Most video cards will not support 2 seperate monitors from a single video port. This cable will just mirror the picture to both displays. In order to have 2 seperate displays you will need to have 2 seperate DVI ports on the computer. You can either install a video card in the computer that has 2 DVI ports or you could add another DVI port using an Was this answer helpful? Yes - No

  • I bought a dvi splitter that when plugged into a vga monitor it stops the dvi signal (sw 4878). If I put the Sw 6079 adapter first then my other Spliter (sw 4878),Will it turn off the second dvi on this slitter? So I have one dvi out to the (sw6097) then to (sw 4878). From the sw6097 I continue the dvi signal to the original dvi monitor and connect the the other output to my sw4878. I only connect my vga monitor to this adapter. Will I have pictures on both monitors?
    • The issues you are running into are based on a limitation of your video card. Most video cards can only output a digital OR an analog signal, but not both simultaneously. Once the computer detects a monitor, it will not attempt to connect to a second. Video cards that can connect to multiple montors through a single connection must support "Dualhead" technology, in which case the DVI to DVI and VGA adapter should work for you. Otherwise to connect one VGA and one DVI monitor, you will need a new video card, or an external video card.

  • I have dual 22" monitors hooked up to my computer and an LCD TV with a dvi input. The TV's resolution is smaller than the monitor's. Would I be able to split one of the monitors outputs to the TV and the Monitor and have it not effect the resolution of the monitor?
    • Unfortunately this would not work for that situation. To run the TV at a different resolution you would need a separate video controller or an external scaler. A simple solution might be an add-on video card like the SW-8601
