  • What's the difference between DVI-I and DVI-A. What do i need to get in order to try to adapt from VGA computer output to DVI-I input on LCD tv? The output on the computer is a female port and the input on the LCD tv is female input. I am not seeing a VGA male to DVI-I male cable of 10-15 feet.
    • DVI-I means it has all the pins for both DVI-A (analog only) and DVI-D (digital only) connections. VGA is an analog signal so there is no need to have a DVI-I cable because you can just use a DVI-A connection. Not all DVI-I ports support an analog VGA signal so you will need to check with your TV manufacturer to see if it does. As long as it does you can use this VGA to DVI-A cable to connect the two.

  • i have a toshiba that i bought in 2003 that has the dvi hcdp i was wondering if i could hook my lab top up tp my tv with this or my desktop computer
    • As long as the DVI port on your toshiba supports a VGA signal through the port this will work. In a lot of cases, however, the DVI ports are DVI-D, meaning they only accept digital signals. You'll need to check the specifications for your display and find out if it has the proper support for that kind of signal.
