  • How do i remotely turn the router on if the usb modem is not currently connected to a cell site? Will this work with a Verizon wireless Pantech USB modem? Thanks, Bill
    • First, it is compatible with the Verizon Pantech modem (we updated the specs to show current compatibility). Remote management depends on a few factors (see quote below), and would require an active connection to see the router from an external IP address. If you want to access the router locally, (from a computer "behind" the router) then you do not need an active signal to your cellular modem.
      From Cradlepoint's support page:

"When trying to connect to your router over the internet, or trying to forward services like remote cameras or devices, the internet relies on IP addresses and ports to connect to those devices.
Many carriers block certain ports. Port 80 for example, which is used by internet browsers, is commonly blocked and it makes it so that you cannot connect to your router remotely.
With port forwarding in the router, you can bypass some of these problems by using an open port and then redirecting it to a private port.
Each carrier may block certain ports and you will need to contact the cellular provider to determine which ports are open and which ports are closed.

  • How many host can connect to the router at same time and have access to the internet if cdma/gprs modem is connected to the router? What distance does the router transmit the signal to the clients?
    • You can have multiple computers connected to the router, however the bandwidth available from a GPRS or CDMA modem would not typically support many users. (You can contact your service provider for more details) The range can be up to 300 feet in open air and typically over 100 feet indoors.

Can I use this in my house to connect multiple computers to the internet from different locations in the house(mainly used one at a time) and does this have a direct cat 5 cable connection as well? thanks .dan

  • Need a wireless router to connect to my desk top computer and to make my wireless printer work and to connect my laptop wirelessly also. MY internet connection is a Hawai228 air card; I note in your discription that CTR is conpatible with my air card but is it wireless?
    • Yes, this should be compatible with your card. Note however this model does not have any wired ethernet ports, so your desktop computer will have to run off of wireless (Wifi) as well. If you want a full router, you migt want to consider the Cradlepoint mobile broadband router.
