  • what wires does the product come with? what wires will i have to purchase to hook the system up to my computer/tv?
    • This item comes with a USB power cable, a cable to go to the VGA port on the computer, a composite video cable, and an s-video cable. This is every cable you need to connect the computer's video output to the TV. If you want the audio to be transmitted to the TV as well, you'll need to purchase a 3.5mm to RCA audio cable. That item will connect the audio output of your computer to the L/R audio inputs on the TV.

  • Does this have everything you need to convert souind and video from pc to tv or is there something i need to have to get it to work additionally?
    • As stated in the product description, this converter only handles the video signal. In order to get the audio from your computer to your TV you'll need a 1/8 inch to RCA audio cable. That cable will plug into the speaker jack on your computer and into the audio input on your TV.

  • What resolution does this device output to (480p, 720p, etc)? I want to watch videos from my computer on a 42" HDTV. The videos are only standard definition, so will this device be sufficient or will I need an HDTV converter even though the videos are only standard definition?
    • This converter can only output a composite or an S-video signal. Both of those signal types are just standard definition video types so they will only be 480i resolution. If you want to connect your computer to an HDTV you'll want a different connection.
The best PC to TV solution depends a lot on what kinds of connections your TV and computer have. If your computer and TV both have VGA ports the best solution is simply a VGA cable. If your computer has DVI or HDMI on it and your TV has HDMI on it you can simply use a cable to go from one to the other. Another option would be to go from the VGA port on the computer to the HDMI port on the TV. You could use an analog to digital signal converter like the VGA to HDMI Scaler, part SW-9393. If your computer has VGA and your TV has component (but not HDMI) i would recommend the PC to HDTV converter, part SW-4280. That item will convert the VGA signal to an HD component signal for use on your HDTV.

  • I hooked this up last night and cannot get the vertical hold fixed. Assume that the up and down buttons are for vertical hold (picture flipping downward). Will probably try again tonight--you have any hints or am I possibly not doing something right?
    • If your TV uses a the standard 60Hz NTSC video format, you'll need to use the switches on the side of the PC to TV converter near the S-Video port to adjust it. Flip both of those switches to NTSC and it should resolve the problem.
