Cat5e
Cat5e is an enhanced version of Cat5 that has a rigorous enough specification for being the recommended standard for gigabit systems (1000BASE-T). Although data transmission is quicker, the distance specification for Cat5e remains at 100 meters (328 ft.).
FTP (Foiled Twisted Pair)
Foiled Twisted Pair is a shielding technique, also known as screened unshielded twisted pair, or S/UTP), where a foil screen covers the unshielded twisted pair. Although this does not provide as much shielding as STP (shielded twisted pair), it provides protection from a lot of electromagnetic interference. This type of interference can damage data packets and cause a network to slow down considerably or even fail.
