Pros: None Cons: Hoping to avoid the wire shuffle to add rear channels. got this and hooked it up, turns out all it does is click every second or two, no sound no nothing. Supposedly 5.8ghz equipment interferes (like wireless phones and WIfi) and can cause this click. to verify I unplugged wireless and phone and OH wait STILL there, turns out it could be a neighbors wifi or phone that is doing it. Or it is just junk either way dont waste your money Other Comments: Sewell Note: We are sorry that you had trouble with the amplifier. The 5.8 GHz band has much more 'room' than the standard 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz bands, but can still experience interference, especially in crowded apartment complexes etc. You can return the amplifier to us, we can test to see if it is interference or if there is some issue with the unit, and send a refund or replacement as appropriate. Pros: Good idea. Cons: Didn't work. Interfered with my wireless phone. Left side volume was extemely loud while right side was inaudible. Crackling sound constantly. Other Comments: I purchased this as an open box from Sewell (paid $89 for open box, while new cost $106). It was a brand new unit, but apperently returned before. Probably for the same reason I returned it. When I called Sewell about it, they offered to replace the unit or offer me a refund. I chose to replace the unit. I had to call a week after it was sent to find ut they chose to refund the money instead. They claim to not be able to get this any longer, yet they offer it for sale on their website and if you call in to buy it they will sell it to you. So, they lied to me and don't want to give me a new unit in replacement. I'd NEVER purchase from Sewell again because of this dishonesty!
Sewell Note: Open box returns can be replaced with open box items, refunded, or used as a credit toward a retail version of the product as stated in our return policy. Was this review helpful? Yes - NoHelpful to 1 out of 2 people voting. Permalink

Pros: Small, simple, easy to understand, works right the first time Cons: Build quality? Lack of power indicator on amp. left/right channels crossed on transmitter. Other Comments: This is too much fun. I've only had it two days, so I can't comment on durability. Directions say, "turn down amp volume when switching sources to prevent speaker damage." Okaaaaayyyy. Am I to crawl under my couch every time I switch from FM to CD to DVD? Fortunately, there is no issue with changing sources on the receiver; this would probably be an issue with changing the source that is physically connected to the transmitter, such as plugging/unplugging an ipod to the line-in jack. In this case you can turn down the transmitter volume/level without having to physically access the amp. I don't give many things 5-stars, this device gets it because for me it works without interference, there has been no noise at all other than the sound that's supposed to come through, it works exactly as advertised, it's running my 86db Infinity speakers (which are not very efficient) without a problem, there has been no clipping or distortion, it is silent when not in use. This is not an audiophile or critical application--I am powering surround speakers. I can't comment on the finer points of fidelity, but I can't distinguish a sound difference between the front speakers running from my receiver and the rear running on this amp (speakers are identical bookshelves with sub). They do a great job of filling in surround. I first hooked these up to my reciever as secondary speakers so that I could be sure there was a signal going to them. I switched back and forth between my A/B speaker pairs to compare sound and set the level--I have the amp level set about half-way and the transmitter turned up, which balanced the sound level equally between speakers. Once I knew they were working, I attached them to my surround outputs, set up the speakers on my receiver to let it know to put out 5 channels of sound, and voila! wireless surround sound (although my wife was laughing heartily, failing to understand how anything that requires so much wire in the back of the room could be called "wireless"!) If you're looking for a surround sound option, or even for wireless transmission to a set of speakers in another room, this does the job.
Note: I am operating in a semi-rural environment where I have little if any interference on the 5.8ghz band. I can't speak to what might happen in a noisy environment. All our other gear is 2.4ghz. Was this review helpful? Yes - NoBe the first to vote! Permalink
