  • I am planning to buy a digital TV converter box (ATSC tuner). Will I be able to plug this into your card and get a high quality digital picture on my computer monitor? Can I plug in a DVD player? Is the quality as good as HDTV?
    • This adapter only supports standard definition signals. It will not support any HDTV channels, however you can connect it to a digital converter box and DVD player.

  • I already have this tuner card. The problem is the video quality through my basic cable is horrible, grainy and very annoying. What am i doing wrong?
    • Actually, you aren't doing anything wrong. This tuner only supports basic cable, or standard definition cable like what you are using. This type of video signal runs at a very low resolution. When you take that low resolution image and put it on a high resolution computer monitor, you can suddenly see all of the imperfections in the signal because the monitor is so much clearer. A standard definition TV only runs the resolution of the cable signal and in a sense blurs/softens the image a bit which hides the graininess of the picture. In order to avoid that graininess and other imperfections in the signal you must use high definition TV channels. You can either use an ATSC Tuner to get the channels that are broadcast free over the air, or you can upgrade to HD Cable and get a QAM tuner for your computer that will support it.

  • I'm looking for a PCI capture card (TV tuner not really necessary)to capture video from my analog Hi-8 Camcorder into video files on my hard drive which I can then insert them into my Ulead Media Studio editing program for editing. Will this do it. I assume this captures at the standard 30 frames per second? Also, does this have any capture capabilities from my digital camcorder?
    • This should work well for your analog Camcorder. If you also have analog (RCA or S-video) outputs from your digital camcorder it will work for that as well.

  • I am about to buy this TV card. But first I would like to now what is the maximun resolution it supports, because I have a 21.6" Wide Screen LCD Monitor and a resolution of 1680 x 1050. I think I have a good TV signal, because in my TV most the channels are quite clear. My question is IF I put this TV card into full screes, How would it look like? Thanks for your answer.
    • This tuner only supports standard definition TV signals. These signals run at a 640x480 resolution. This is the resolution of a standard television. So when stretching that image to a 1680x1050 display it may appear grainy because you are running a much higher resolution than the incoming signal. Because of the high resolution display of the monitor it actually makes imperfections in the signal stand out and become more visable because the pictures is more clear. If you want higher resolution channels you would need to use a high definition tuner and a high definition source.

  • what way is best to connect the computer the tv. i have a rca 64 inch. there are rca jacks in the back of it, now what do i do
    • The best PC to TV solution depends a lot on what kinds of connections your TV and computer have. If your computer and TV both have VGA ports the best solution is simply a VGA cable. If your computer has DVI or HDMI on it and your TV has HDMI on it you can simply use a cable to go from one to the other. If your computer has VGA and your TV has component i would recommend the PC to HDTV converter, part SW-4280. That item will convert the VGA signal to an HD component signal for use on your HDTV. Another option would be to go from the VGA port on the laptop to the HDMI port on the TV. You could use an analog to digital signal converter like the DVI to HDMI cable to go from the scaler to the TV.
